Mornings from 7:30am - 8:15am Reading a loud 2-3x week from one of the MCBA 2010 titles -- other mornings ORB time.
We do a “Booked for Lunch” club. We all decide on what we want to read. We have 3 lunch waves, so I meet with different students at each lunch and supply the drink and goodies. Sometimes members of the faculty come, too. It is fun…sometimes we don’t talk about the book too much and I have to guide them back. We have some great readers here (the Middle School requires that students have a book with them at all times, so if they don’t have anything to do, they have to read….it really helps!) Last year, our first meeting was discussing books we read during the summer. (Twilight!) Then we read The Secret Life of Bees (before the movie came out). One of the last days of school (half day), we watched the video and had a pizza party. Please share other people’s ideas! Nancy Strong, Ellington HS, Ellington, CT
